John Noel Viana

John Noel Viana is an ARC DECRA fellow at the Justice and Technoscience (JusTech) laboratory at the School of Regulation and Global Governance at the Australian National University. His DECRA project aims to develop an anti-racist neuroethics framework for epistemic justice in brain and mental health research. Previously, he was an ANU-CSIRO postdoc in responsible innovation in precision health, where he investigated equity and diversity considerations in health research, promotion, and communication. He obtained his PhD at the University of Tasmania, where he investigated ethical, legal, and societal issues associated with clinical trials of invasive neurosurgical procedures for people with Alzheimer's disease. He is currently a senior editor for BMC Medical Ethics and is also an editorial board member of Asian Bioethics Review.
